Theology
The Theology Department at Lutheran High School strives to develop graduates who are able to explain God's plan of salvation for humankind, defend the truths of Christianity as compared to other religions, actively participate with a community of believers in worship, study and service and actively share their faith in all aspects of their lives. While taking courses students will study and memorize Scripture to assist them with applying God's word and empowering them to become Bible literate.

The English and Language Arts program at Lutheran High school strives to help students become better communicators and writers. All students are given the opportunity to develop their current skill levels for the purpose of improving themselves, family relations, community, nation, church and the world.

Social Studies
The primary goal of the Social Science Department at Lutheran High School is to inform and quip students to become active Christian members of our democratic society. Students will gain a deep perspective and appreciation of the different cultures, governments, and societies of the world. The history of the United States will be a strong focal point throughout each student's study as well as the functions of our government and economy.

Mathematics
The Math Department at Lutheran High School believes that mathematics is important to a well-rounded course of study for the secondary student. It is our goal that the student will realize that the human mind is a gift and that as a steward of this gift, should strive to develop it to the highest degree. Students are encouraged to take as many math courses as they can successfully handle to prepare for the increasing demands of our technological society.

Science
Lutheran High School requires every student to successfully complete one year of physical science and one year of biological science. The Science department provides a challenging curriculum that strives to meet the needs of students with diverse career goals by developing students to appreciate the world, become scientifically literate, problem-solve, analyze (quantitatively and qualitatively) and investigate to find their own solutions.

The Visual Arts program at Lutheran High School provides an opportunity for all students to explore their creative potential. Regardless of the student's intentions, it has been documented that students who participate in the fine arts become more aware and are better prepared for higher education and aesthetic experiences of life yet to come.

Health

Physical Education
The Physical Education Department seeks to educate students about the various benefits of physical activity including health and fitness, recreation, and character development. All course work should provide students with knowledge and experiences that will allow them to value and participate in physical activity throughout life.
Physical education units are completed outside of the online classroom in an independent study format. Students will be working directly with a qualified instructor, coach or trainer of their choice to fulfill this requirement. Prior to beginning any physical activity for unit completion in this category, the parents and students must retrieve a petition document from a Student Services Representative. Once completed, the document should be returned to a Student Services Representative, who will route the petition to the appropriate contacts for approval. Parents and students will receive notice of approval for the physical activity within 10 business days of receipt.
Physical activities that qualify for unit completion must:
- Be taught by a qualified instructor, coach or trainer.
- Consist of at least 10 hours/week of training over an 8 week period (.5 units), or 5 hours/week over a 16-week period (.5 units).
A total of 2 units is required in physical education for graduation.
